Jedox Feature Voting Tool

Dear Jedox User,

in our continuous strive to improve our services, features and to help you gain your share of this ever growing market we are introducing the Jedox Feature Voting System.
This new service is currently exclusively available for you, our Users and Partners.

What is this Jedox Feature Voting System?
It is a tool that provides you with the options to create and vote on Feature request, Ideas and any other general Feedback.
This in return provides us with the necessary Information to react and provide you with the things you need.

We invite you to browse this Page, create and vote on new Features, Ideas and requests!

How can we improve Jedox Software?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Semi-additive Rules / partial B-Rules

It would be great to define rules, which are C-rule related to the time dimension but at the same time B-rule to all other dimensions in the cube.
(So we target consolidated elements in time dimension and base elements in all other dimensions)

With this we could define advanced semi-additive aggregation behaviour, which is currently not provided by Jedox (e.g. NonEmptyAverage)

Right now we only have some basic semi-additive aggregation in Jedox.

In general it would be really powerful to define rules, which are targeting consolidated elements in some selected dimensions and base elements in all other dimensions.

  2. Activate / Deactivate Filters in Extracts

This would be great to be able to deactivate filters in Extracts. For instance, Extract cube, I have 3 rows, and I want to remove the 2nd temporarily. At the present time I have to delete it, I would like to be able to deactivate it only.

  3. Macro Events: AfterPaloUpdate to start a macro after Dynarange-Update

Macros assigned to filter-comboboxes (to set dynarange-variables) are executed BEFORE data is updated.

A function similar to __open() that is triggered after palo-data has been changed, e.g. in dynaranges, would allow macro-treatment of the new data - in my case to compare current and last year's top-50-customer-dynarange and mark via macro and conditional formatting customers, missing in the actual period (= stopped buying)

  4. About the initial display of the combo box on the report

We save the file with the hierarchy expanded.
Then, the hierarchy is displayed in the closed when we open the report again.
We would like to need the hierarchy is displayed in the expanded when we open the report again in the same case.
We propose for this feature to be implemented in a future Jedox release.

  5. NEW Active Directory mode, that combine the "Authentication" and "Authorization" mode.

Currently it is neither possible in "Authentication" mode nor in "Authorization" mode to automatically create/login the users via the AD* and subsequently assign several additional groups to the user.
Either you have to create them manually and assign the additional groups or you can only become the assigned groups in the AD.

Due to its needed in more projects I´m really looking forward for a combination of both modes.

  6. Extend DB Script generation (cube+related dimensions, select multiple db objects)

The option to generate DB scripts is really great!
But currently you can only create scripts for single db objects (dimensions, cubes) or for the whole db in total.

It would be great if Jedox would offer some options to save time.

    1.
when I create a db script for a cube, I would need the option to
also create scripts for the related dimensions

    2.
in general it would be great if I could select multiple cubes and/or dimensions from a list to generate the scripts for them

    Thanks

  7. NULL check for FieldTransform functions (ISNULL/default value)

In FieldTransform functions we need the option to define a default value for inputs and outputs which contain NULL values / invalid values.

    Why?:
FieldTransform functions work well, if you have valid inputs.

But sometimes you have invalid inputs or null inputs.
Then the field transform can obviously not provide a valid output and you will get <<null>> as result.
Furthermore you get a warning in the log.

You can solve this with additional Switch functions to check the values, but this gets very clumsy and confusing.

    Example:
You have a DateDuration function to calculate the duration between
    2 dates.…

  8. page counter in combo box should be freezed

When you have a combo box with lot elements a page counter appears, but if you scroll down the counter disappears. This counter should be freezed.

  10. Scheduler: possibility to create multiple folders in the scheduler

So that administration of the scheduler jobs is possible.
For example to manage active and inactive jobs.
(Enable or disable jobs all at once)

  11. Subset data filter based on multiple cubes

Example: you have two cubes - one with P&L data based on year/month (two separate dimensions), other one with P&L data based on rolling month (rolling from previous month)

The report needs to show P&L from current month + rolling column (which starts from previous month). It would be super useful to configure data filter to show Cost Points where are values in both cubes.

Since version 7.0, PALO.SUBSET formula supports specifying multiple DFILTER expressions. the formula has to be edited manually – the Subset Editor doesn’t support multiple DFILTER expressions. Please check the description in the Jedox Knowldge Base to see if this is sufficient for your requirement.

I want to show Alias of Legend and Data Labels in Chart.

  13. ETL: Initialize variables via PALO.Data / OLAPData function

Thanks for extending the definition of variable default values
by groovy script and Jedox settings.

But it would be much more helpful to initialize variables directly via a cube lookup (PALO.Data / OlapData function).

We have several configuration cubes where settings are maintained.

It is currently very clumsy and annoying to initialize the variables based on the confiuration cubes.
You need a LoopJob or TableLoop, a ConstantTable Extract, and a Field Transform with OLAPData to simply set one value. (see attached example)

The structures you need to build for variable initialization are sometimes more complex than the process itself.
    This…

  14. Functionality to restrict the range of values entered to cubes

Currently Supervision Server script is the only option to restrict the range of the values entered to cubes.
Could you consider to add a new feature that enables users to restrict the range of the values entered to cubes without creating their own Supervision Server script.

  15. consolidated element children as rule targets (targeting all child elements)

It would be great to set a consolidated element as rule target
in a specific mode, where the rule is targeting all child elements.

    Example:

    ['ProductGroup A'] = ...

    is then addressing

    Produkt A1
    Produkt A2
    Produkt A3
    ..

which are all members of ['ProductGroup A'].

-> so the rule would affect all single products instead of the product group (cons. element) itself.

  16. Modeller navigation - jump directly from dimension to related cubes (short cut) + go back button

When you create or change a model, then you often switch between working on dimension structures and cubes (esp. rules).

..e.g. you check some rules in the cube, then you need a new rule, you jump to dimension to create some elements, then you go back to cube to create some rules etc. .. forth and back ..

In bigger models with dozens of cubes and dimensions it is very clumsy to open the tree for the cubes ..then scroll down and browse for the cube and select it multiple times

like you can jump from a cube to the…

  17. ETL: update/replace rules by ID

It would be great to update/replace specifics rules by ID in rule load.

Currently rules are matched based on the definition of the rule. (so the identifier is the rule script itself)
That means if you need to replace a certain rule - you have to relaod all rules in total.

  18. PALO.EPARENT and PALO.ELEVEL relative to specific root element (parallel hierarchies)

PALO.EPARENT and PALO.ELEVEL work well if you have only 1 hierarchy within a dimension.

But if you have more than one hierarchy it would be great to give a certain root element as parameter and get the parent and or the level in exactly this specific tree.

  19. Show element and alias in dynarange (as already existent in Jedox view)

Possibility to show in a dynarange not just the element or the alias, but both like in a jedox view, where you can select to display alias and element separated by a "-"

  20. Separate Jedox Model documentation from technical knowledgebase

Since the documentation for the new Jedox Models has been added to the knowledgebase it has become much more difficult to search for a certain topic. (using free text search)

Now most of the time I get a lot of Model related results, but not what I am searching for. This is quite annoying and makes this comprehensive database a little bit useless.
