Jedox Feature Voting Tool

Dear Jedox User,

in our continuous strive to improve our services, features and to help you gain your share of this ever growing market we are introducing the Jedox Feature Voting System.
This new service is currently exclusively available for you, our Users and Partners.

What is this Jedox Feature Voting System?
It is a tool that provides you with the options to create and vote on Feature request, Ideas and any other general Feedback.
This in return provides us with the necessary Information to react and provide you with the things you need.

We invite you to browse this Page, create and vote on new Features, Ideas and requests!

How can we improve Jedox Software?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Show element and alias in dynarange (as already existent in Jedox view)

Possibility to show in a dynarange not just the element or the alias, but both like in a jedox view, where you can select to display alias and element separated by a "-"

  2. Separate Jedox Model documentation from technical knowledgebase

Since the documentation for the new Jedox Models has been added to the knowledgebase it has become much more difficult to search for a certain topic. (using free text search)

Now most of the time I get a lot of Model related results, but not what I am searching for. This is quite annoying and makes this comprehensive database a little bit useless.

  3. Hide specific dimension elements to reporting user

Sometimes we create some elements just as helpers for certain calculations or tricks (kind of dummy elements) .. those helper elements are not intended to be used for reporting.
Therefore it would be great to be able to mark them as invisible,
so that they do not appear in paste view dialogs or insert element dialogs or similar.

    thanks :)

  4. Attributes / Flags for Rules

    Hi Jedox team,

currently we only have a comment section to add additional information to a rule.
But especially for automated processing of rules via ETL it would be great to be able to mark/flag certain rules in a more structured way.

In the first step just one additional field would be enough.
    (name could be "Tag")

Maybe later it could be extended to something similar to the attributes for dimension elements.

  5. MD5 Hash in ETL => compare records, detect changes/deviations, history logic

It would be great if Jedox Integrator could generate an MD5 Hash based on an entire row. This would be very useful in generic routines where you need to compare records and detect changes (esp. for historization logics)
For me this would be a new field transform function.

  6. Reuse of Field Transforms (esp. groovy) - central library / repository of components

    Hi,

sometimes you have field transform methods which are used in the same way in different ETL processes.
This might be complex groovy scripts or simple concatenations.

If you need to change even a simple concatenation scheme (like generating a key) across several different processes it is very much effort and very error prone.

Also for more complex groovy scripts it is not good if you have them redundant.
Therefore it would be good to create such transformations in a kind of central repository with generic inputs. And then you can select/use/map them in a concrete field transform step within…

  7. Export and import multiple Integrator projects in one step

We have split our ETL processes into several different Integrator projects to keep everything modular and maintainable.

However the deployment of a new complete release from a development to a production system is quite annoying:
We have to export every single project separately.
And on the production sides it is the same:
We have to import every single project separately.

It would be great to be able to do this in one step.
    Thanks :)

  8. Materialized Rules / Persisted Rules - for Performance Optimization (like materialized views)

Currently rules are calculated in the moment when the user queries the data.

It would be great to have the option to shift the timing to the point when the user changes data. So the result of the calculation would be stored/persisted when the user changes a certain parameter.
-> in this moment the change would only affect tiny slices of the cube,
related to the parameters of the calculation. (a bit like a SVS routine)

Generaly this could help to optimize performance in scenarios where reporting performance is critical but data entry performance not that much.

    In relational databases…

  9. Report booklets - compilation of existing reports

In several other reporting tools you have the possiblity to create a combined booklet (Reportmappe).

A booklet basically combines references to several existing reports. So you can create compilations for different stakeholders and purposes - without the need to replicate/duplicate reports you already created.

Result is a big woorkbook with different sheets from different wss files, which you can e.g. export to Excel or PDF in one step.

e.g. this is possible in IBM Cognos:
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_10.2.2/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cr_rptstd.10.2.2.doc/t_rpt_studio_create_rpt_booklet.html

  10. Functionality to check whether the row height of report is explicitly specified or not

In the Jedox 7.1, performance of reports that contains tens of thousands of cells dramatically decreased if the height of rows in the report aren't explicitly specified.
However, there is no way to check whether the row heights are explicitly specified or not.
Could you consider to add the functionality that shows users whether the row heights of reports are explicitly specified or not to the Report Designer.

  11. Investgate the cause of crash from crashdump, log file

Issue : Currently, can't investigate the cause of crash server from crashdump, log file.
In order to investigate the cause, we need the following information

    1. Jedox log folder.
    2. Crash dump files.
    3. requests.txt file (Jedox Suite\olap\data).
    4. As much information as possible regarding the actions that were taken on the server before the crash (jobs that were run, reports being opened, etc..).

Reason : It is very difficult that we know to 4. because any people use Jedox at the same time.

Solutions : We want to be able to know the cause of crash server from crashdump, log.

  12. Shortcut for Data Preview

A shortcut for Data Preview in the ETL would be quite useful, and I think not so complicated to develop

  13. Add navigation capabilities (previous/next/first/last) in the FieldTransform functions

if you want to edit the next or the previous function in ETL client, you have to close the current one, and click on edit for the following. This would be helpful to jump to the next or previous one without closing the window

  14. Window functions in ETL

This would be great to add window functions capabilities in the ETL, maybe as a new function. Window function allow to do aggregations within a query, on the query itself. For instance:
    id | Value | Sum
    X | 1000 | 6000
    Y | 3000 | 6000
    Z | 2000 | 6000

the third column is the result of a window function (this can also be avg, max...)

this is present in some relational systems, see here : http://wwwlgis.informatik.uni-kl.de/cms/fileadmin/courses/SS2008/NEDM/RDDM.Chapter.06.Windows_and_Query_Functions_in_SQL.pdf

at the present time to do that in the ETL you have to get an aggregation component, and lookup on it…

  15. accumulated bars shadow

The values in the accumulated bars are with white shadow. So it is bad to see the right value.

  16. Dynarange Calculation Condition

I would like to prevent the user to get stuck on long running calculation for huge dynaranges.Often very few or even one user can block the whole System by opening a dynarange with greater than 500 Elements. Since calculations can't be stoped by the user everybody is blocked and bad Performance will kill user acceptance.

Therefore within a dynarange I would like to place a calculation condition which is calculated first (e.g No of Elements < 50) and only if true the display of the dynarange will be started. Otherwise I want to display a message to tell users to…

  18. Paste view

In Paste View after detaching a view the drill down by double click functionality should be mantained, this would cause the view to work like the version 5 where it was very ease to use

  19. Nested Frames (one frameset within another frameset)

The current function to use framesets is nice, but still a bit limited as framesets cannot be nested into each other.

Sometimes you use a frameset for the overall application design - esp. to provide global menu bars and navigation structures.

On the other hand you would also need a frameset for specific report layouts (e.g. to avoid stretching of charts next to dynaranges).

But currently you cannot combine them for more complex, professional layout:
If you use framesets for menubars/headers/footers with a content frame,
then you don't have the option anymore to structure also you content into frames.

    Therefore…

  20. Handling of SHOWPICT() in Excel snapshot

It would be great to automatically replace the SHOWPICT()-function in cells by empty string during excel snapshot.
At the moment there are either <img>-tags or "showpict" in cells that originally contained the SHOWPICT()-function in Jedox web.
