Jedox Feature Voting Tool

Dear Jedox User,

in our continuous strive to improve our services, features and to help you gain your share of this ever growing market we are introducing the Jedox Feature Voting System.
This new service is currently exclusively available for you, our Users and Partners.

What is this Jedox Feature Voting System?
It is a tool that provides you with the options to create and vote on Feature request, Ideas and any other general Feedback.
This in return provides us with the necessary Information to react and provide you with the things you need.

We invite you to browse this Page, create and vote on new Features, Ideas and requests!

How can we improve Jedox Software?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Save last-used colors

Save a set (e.g. 10) of last-used colors and enable advanced color picker everywhere; helpful if you're using a lot of custom color codes (right-now, you have to re-enter color code each time).

Could be saved per server, not necessarily per user (it's a designer feature, typically you don't have to many different designers).

And it would be good if this set were available in all color dialogues:
    - border colors (also DynaRange borders)
    - background
    - font colors
    - chart colors (bars, fills, borders etc., for dynamic charts, success charts, micro charts)

  2. Hide all #VALUE errors (Alle #WERT-Fehler ausblenden)

Especially on opening or reloading a workbook for a short moment there may be displayed lots of #VALUE errors, while Jedox is retrieving data.
Only possibility to hide these currently is an optional formatting for text color to match background color - what is a lot of work as soon as one uses different colors on worksheet.
Proposal: Option to hide all #VALUE errors in Report-Manager and/or File-Manager. A default should be possible do define and maybe also the user should be able to toggle visibility of #VALUE errors in menu.

  3. Undo in ETL

There is no way of undoing a change in ETL rather than reloading the whole ETL Project. Once a change has been made one is forced to save!

Would be helpful if you can leave a changed ETL component without saving it.

  4. Tomcat multicore support

As I have been informed by Jedox Dev team, the ETL-Server (Tomcat Service) is running one job per CPU core. This behaviour is mainly slowing down our ETL projects since a huge amount of data has to be proceeded.
The number of cores that should be used in parallel within one job should be configurable.

  5. Pagebreak in PDF prints

Wenn printing PDF pages it is sometimes needed that you can define where the page are broken, so that you can control what is shown on page 1, 2 etc.

This is a feature which will improve the usability for the viewer of the reports made in Jedox.

  6. Trendlines in Web Diagrams

In Excel it's three klicks from a simple diagram to a diagram with a trend line - no matter if linear, polynomial or moving average.

In Jedox Web I have to create the data for the trend line on my own.
    Important for Charts in Production

  7. Display aggregated levels in DynaRange in different colors

    - recurring enduser request
    - conditional formatting does not always work properly
    - add on in hierarchy filter or within the properties of a dyna-range
    - easy to implement to display certain levels with a font or background color e.g. level 1 = blue / level 2 = grey / ...

  8. drill-down level of dynarange with variable

Enable drill-down begin of a dynarange not only by "hardcoded" number, but with a variable. So you could easily set up the expansion levels.

  9. Macro Events: OnCellChange

It would be great to be able to react on data input into cells of a Jedox Web Spreadsheet via macro similar to Excel (Worksheet_Change event).

  10. Move buttons, charts, comboboxes etc. with arrow keys

The efficiency of final report layouting could be improved:

Positioning of buttons, charts, comboboxes via mouse is not exact enough.

Positioning of buttons, charts, comboboxes via the control properties dialog is to inefficient if you have to align multiple controls.

Therefore it would be great to have the possibility to move those objects via arrow keys on the keyboard in a fine granular way.

  13. Tags for ETL-components

Choose several ETL components of one project which belong somehow logically together and group them under a given name.
Should be displayed in ETL Manager under a new item
    -Tags
    --- SalesRelated
    ------Extract
    --------- E_XY_1
    --------- E_XY_2
    ------Transforms
    --------- T_QWERT
    --- ImportantComponents
    ...

A component may be assigned in different tags
Option to create a tag out of the dependency of a component (to decide if dynamic or not)

  14. Don't show _internal_suite in the list of users

The _internal_suite user gets everyone confused. Every client that is a bit less technical worries about it ("Does it take a license", "What if we delete it", "What if the password is changed" and so on and on). There is absolutely no need that I can see to have _internal_suite shown in the list of users. If it's something that Jedox needs internally that's fine, but please don't expose it to users.

  15. Option to set alias as default value

It should be possible to preselect the alias as the default value to avoid confusing users with IDs defined as base elements.
The setting should be made user-specific.

  16. package based deployment on linux

please consider the benefits of a package based installation which uses the upstream apache/tomcat packages.
at the moment you are using a chroot-like model which has the big flaw of not getting security updates from the distribution channels.
hearthbleed bug was one example where we thought we were save because of the system SSL-updates but weren't because jedox uses its own SSL-Libs.
Yes, there are a lot of distros out there, but noone expects support for all of them. Please focus on CentOS/Redhat/SUSE and Debian-Based distributions. this way it should not be to hard to be up-to-date.
    All of the…

  17. create folders in ETL integration manager (by user)

instead of forcing the creation of folders by component type (e.g. "Cube", "Dimension", .. for extracts), it would be very much appreciated, if it was possible to create a folder-structure by user.
Potentially, these folders could also span across "E", "T" and "L", to allow even easier structuring by topics.
Not sure though, if the latter brings more advantages or disandvantages. Please post your comment.

  18. Improve usability of Groovy function editor

Actually the groovy function editor is not reflecting the high maturity which Jedox Integrator has reached now.
You cannot even resize it if you have to develop a more extended logic.
More real-time validation of the code and debugging support would also bring a big value add.

  19. Central/global reusable macro modules

If you need the same macro in different workbooks you currently have only 2 options:
    - copy & paste the macro into all relevant workbooks
    - use external PHP files.

But external PHP files are not really handy when you want to provide deployment packages of your reports. Furthermore it makes maintenance more clumsy if you have your codes in 2 different places.

It would be great if you could create central/global macro modules directly in the file manager. Those then could be referenced and used in different workbooks:
    require module ("MyGlobalModule2");

Another alternative for better reusability could be to…

  20. Simple function to remove an element from consolidation (PALO.EREMOVE or something similar))

Currently the only option to remove an element from consolidation with spreadsheet functions is to use PALO.EUPDATE
function. This method is in-direct as it requires all the elements remaining in consolidation as an argument which makes the use of function laborious.

A new function to simply "break" parent-child relation of two elements would make this operation much easier. The function could be something like PALO.EREMOVE(Server/Database,Dimension,Element,Consolidated Element).
