Option to hide archived databases in the Modeler database tree

The Modeler already flags archived databases with an “(archived)” label in the database tree. On long-lived servers these can be numerous: old versions, dated backups, test copies, demo databases. They stay mixed with the active ones in the alphabetical list.

Problem

  • On our own server, about a third of the databases in the tree are archived, which makes the list much longer than it needs to be.

  • Finding an active database means scrolling past many entries that cannot even be expanded.

  • It adds visual noise for administrators and consultants who manage many databases on the same instance.

Proposal
Add a “Show archived databases” option to the Modeler database tree, for example in the settings (gear) menu next to the connection selector:

  • When disabled, archived databases are hidden from the tree.

  • The setting is remembered per user (or per connection).

  • The current behaviour (show all) can stay the default to avoid confusing existing users.

  • Optionally, a small counter such as “12 archived databases hidden” lets users know they exist and switch them back on quickly.

Benefits

  • A shorter, cleaner tree focused on the databases actually in use.

  • Faster navigation on large or long-lived environments.

  • A low-effort change, since the archived status already exists and only the display needs filtering.

Thank you for your great idea. While we cannot commit to a specific target version, we will consider adding it to our future internal backlog.
