In Ramp Up 5.1 the new feature is server-based calculation of subsets. Unfortunately it will not be possible to access older OLAP server by subsets because there's no downward compatibility. (Just confirmed by Jedox)
So, I would prefer alternative client-based OLAP access depending on accessed server version.

There is no supported client version anymore relying on client-side calculation of subsets.
