When you extract a file via integrator (i.e. Excel workbook) it doesn't keep the source formatting and requires you to use an extract and transform to get the numbers back to their original format. The suggestion would be to add a checkbox to an extract to "use source formatting" so that the extra steps aren't needed to get the numbers back to their original format.
