Context:
Customer maintains multiple Jedox environments - DEV, TEST, PROD. Changes to application models are released to PROD after they are unit tested in DEV, UAT in TEST and then MTP post sign off.
Current Process:
Currently model builders maintain a list of all structural changes to Dimensions, Cubes, ETL, Reports in a spreadsheet. During the Release process, all artefacts and related changes are manually moved and tracked with the spreadsheet. This is a effort intensive and error prone process.
Feature Requirement:
Enable creating versions of an application model
Enable comparing of the two versions and generating the list of changes between two versions automatically by tool
Enable generating scripts to update target model automatically using the upgrade scripts
No data is moved between environments and only structural changes move.
For changes that can cause data loss, there are warnings for the modelers at all times of the release process.
If rollback to older version is done with model restore, the version needs to be updated accordingly.
