Let us know how we can make Jedox even better!
Current situation:
It is technically possible today to achieve selection logic with icons using:
Spreadsheets with IF statements
Hidden columns with Palo formulas
Hyperlinks
However, this approach requires significant manual effort and complex setup.
Current limitation:
The existing solutions rely on technical workarounds
Standard checkboxes do not work with dynaranges
Desired behavior:
Introduce a native, user-friendly interaction model using icons instead of numeric values (0/1).
Example:
For a given activity (e.g., Fuel consumption from coal):
✅ Allowed & selected → shown with a “checked” icon
⬜ Allowed & not selected → shown with an “empty/unchecked” icon
🚫 Not allowed → shown with a “disabled/locked” icon and cannot be selected
Additional requirement:
Units should only be selectable/deselectable where allowed
Non-relevant units should be:
Disabled (non-clickable)
Visually distinguishable (e.g., greyed out or with a lock icon)
Value / Benefit:
Reduces dependency on manual spreadsheet workarounds
Less manual efforts
Less error possibilities
Simplifies maintenance and scaling of mappings
Suggested solution:
Provide a native Dynatables feature for state-based selection, including:
Icon-based selection (instead of 0/1 or plain checkboxes)
Built-in logic for allowed/disallowed states
Conditional enablement based on activity context (e.g. parent elements are not selectable)
tooltip explanation for disabled items
