Version in Asset Register to enable historical tracking

Currently, changes made to assets in the Asset Register overwrite the existing data. As a result, previous values and assumptions cannot be traced once updates have been applied.
For planning, forecasting, and auditing purposes, it is important to retain historical versions of asset records. This would allow users to understand how asset data has evolved over time and to compare different planning states.
Add versioning functionality to the Asset Register, allowing users to create and maintain multiple versions of an asset record (e.g., Original Budget, Forecast Q1, Forecast Q2, Actuals, Scenario Planning).
Expected Benefits

  • Full audit trail of asset-related changes

  • Historical comparison of asset values and assumptions

  • Increased transparency in planning and forecasting processes

  • Better support for scenario planning and reforecast cycles

  • Reduced risk of losing previous planning information

Example
An asset is initially planned with an investment value of €100,000 in the budget version. During the year, the forecast is adjusted to €120,000. With versioning, users can easily compare both versions and understand when and why the assumptions changed, without overwriting the original plan.

--> Users should be able to select and analyze Asset Register data by version, similar to the version concept already available in planning models.
