Make Data/Backup Restores Easier

Large cubes are almost impossible to restore from the cloud console, without contacting support for assistance. It would be a very useful feature to have the ability to grab specific items or full backups from the cloud backups (i.e. Large cubes, dimensions, reports). i.e. self service restorations from backups.

Expanding on the synchronization feature would be great, as far as im aware you cannot currently restore from one of the cloud backups especially from yesterday's TEST --> current TEST, only from LIVE-->TEST at present time.

Example:

• Client is in the middle of UAT on their TEST server and is refreshing their Finance cube nightly.

• Overnight the client had an issue with their data warehouse resulting in the PnL cube with 100M filled cells changing significantly, thus stopping their testing until we can get the cube restored to its prior status.

• When restoring from a local scheduled backup on the server to a new DB that has been setup, the cube is too large to move this restore DB back into the primary DB.

  • Data may have been input on other cubes, during this time that the client does not want to lose, so this option will not work

• When we try use the script feature, it tries to continously process, but eventually times out.

• When we try to use the download feature, it times out or wont download to a flat file due to the size.
